Consider a resolution calling a Special Election to fill the unexpired term for City Council Place 3 for the City of Keller, to be held on August 31, 2024, as set forth by the City Charter and Texas Election Code.

Background:

The proposed resolution is ordering the August 31, 2024, City of Keller Special Election for City Council Place 3.  As a part of the election process the City Council is posting the Notice of Candidate Filing Period with the Election Order. The Candidate Filing Period for a place on the ballot will begin Tuesday, May 28, 2024, and continue until 5:00 P.M. Thursday, June 27, 2024.

 

Tarrant County Elections is preparing a standard Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services for the August 31, 2024, Special Election, which includes the following information: 

The only Early Voting (August 14 - 27) and Election Day Voting (August 31) location in the city will be Keller Town Hall.

     

The County’s electronic voting equipment for said election includes the Hart InterCivic Verity Voting System (Version 2.3.1), which has been approved by the Secretary of State.

 

Financial Considerations:                     

The City’s cost for the August 31, 2024, Special Election will be included in Tarrant County’s Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services and will be presented to the City Council at a later date for your approval.    

 

Staff Recommendation:                     

Staff recommends approval of the proposed resolution ordering the August 31, 2024, Special Election.
