Background:
In the fall of 2020, the Sidewalk Scouts volunteer program identified damaged sidewalk locations city-wide. With this information in hand, staff was able to develop a strategy to address these needs. As part of the FY 2021-22 funding approvals, the City Council prioritized the repair of these known sidewalk issues. This construction award is the first of multiple awards to come clearing the backlog of known repair needs.
The Hidden Lakes community was selected as the starting neighborhood for the city-wide repair efforts and represents approximately 3,100 square feet of sidewalk replacement, 200 linear feet of replaced curb and gutter and 10 updated ADA ramps. A Location Map for the project is included.
Four (4) qualifying bids were received at Keller Town Hall on January 12, 2022 for this project. A bid summary is included showing the range of bid amounts. City staff has reviewed the low bidder’s qualifications, bonding capacity and references and recommends Northstar Constructions LLC., of Fort Worth, Texas be awarded the bid in the amount of $64,276.00 with construction to be completed within 90 calendar days.
Financial Impact:
Funding is included in the Street System CIP budget with funding provided by the General Fund.
