Title

Consider an ordinance of the City Council of the City of Keller, Texas, amending the City of Keller Code of Ordinances, by amending Chapter 2, Administration, by deleting Article IX. Reserved, and adding a New Article IX. Keller Sports Authority Board; authorizing publication; and establishing an effective date.

Body

Background:

As the City continues to evaluate operations and programming at Keller Sports Park, discussions have focused on strengthening communication and coordination between the City and the youth sports associations that utilize the facility. The proposed Keller Sports Authority would create a seven-member resident advisory group to provide a dedicated forum for sports-related discussions and recommendations. The Keller Sports Authority would meet as needed, receive annual updates from the associations currently presented to the Parks and Recreation Board, and provide input on opportunities to improve the overall youth sports experience, including team formation, scheduling efficiency, buddy requests, practice locations, facility usage, and coordination among associations.

The attached ordinance adds the Keller Sports Authority Board to the Code of Ordinances with the goal of providing definition of the composition of the board, information regarding meetings and agenda, and other regulations.

Council Action:

Consider approval of an ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances as reflected in the proposed ordinance.
