Title

Consider a resolution canceling Contract No. 19-15-02 and approving an Agreement for Professional Services with Criado and Associates, Inc. of Dallas, Texas; for the purpose of providing construction inspection services for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution canceling Contract No. 19-15-02 and approving an Agreement for Professional Services with Criado and Associates, Inc. for construction inspection services in the amount of $98,000.00

Background:

The City of Keller has seen a significant increase in right of way permit applications relating to telecom installations.  Current permits cover thousands of feet of underground installations.  Current staffing levels are not able to handle multiple crews working in multiple locations all over the city.  In order to adequately protect the city’s infrastructure, Criado and Associates, Inc. was hired to specifically provide oversight for these installations.  The current Agreement for Professional Services (Contract No.19-15-02), in the amount of $48,000, is 97% complete through the end of March.  The work associated with the current permits is not complete.  More right of way permit applications are expected as the communications companies prepare for the 5G networks.

Due to the installation method, directional drilling, the potential for damage to existing city water, sanitary sewer and storm drain lines is extremely high.  With multiple crews working in multiple locations, a constant presence is required to ensure that the contractors follow standard procedures.  Criado’s assistance to date has been invaluable and this agreement will ensure their assistance in successfully completing these and future installations.

This agreement will replace the current contract of $48,000 and create a new contract for up to $98,000.  Of the original $48,000, $46,630.74 has been spent and will be applied to the new contract.

Financial Impact:

Funding is included in the Fiscal Year 2019-20 General Fund budget.
