Action Requested:                     

Consider a resolution approving the bid from Capko Concrete Structures, LLC., for the construction of the Whitley Road Bike/Pedestrian Trail Connection, in the amount of $283,812.00.

 

Background:                     

This will be a 10 foot wide, 616 foot long concrete Hike and Bike Trail connecting Whitley Road to the Big Bear Creek Greenbelt.

A design was developed by the engineering firm of Westwood and issued for competitive bidding. Eleven bids were received on March 29, 2023 with Capko Concrete Structures, LLC., of Azle, Texas, submitting the lowest bid meeting specifications. City staff, with the aid of Westwood, has reviewed the low bidder’s qualifications, bonding capacity and references.

 

Financial Impact:

Funding is included in the Parks Capital Improvement Project Fund with funding provided by the Keller Development Corporation Fund.

 

Citizen Input/Board Review:                     

This segment of the Hike and Bike Trail System has been on the city’s Hike and Bike Trail Master Plan since at least 2000.  

 

Legal Review:                       

The City Attorney has reviewed and approved this item.

 

Council Action:                     

Staff recommends approval of the resolution as presented.
