Consider a resolution approving a payment of $102,537.00 to North Texas Contracting of Keller, Texas for the emergency repair of the 24-inch transmission waterline owned by the City of Keller at the intersection of Pearson Road and Florence Road.
Background:
On Friday, January 14, 2022, a 24-inch water transmission waterline unexpectedly failed. While the City was fortunate that it was not an explosive failure, the area around the water line did have ponding of chlorinated water. The non-explosive nature of this failure allowed staff the time to isolate the water line and to secure repair services through North Texas Contracting.
North Texas Contracting was able to be on site the following Wednesday, January 19th to begin exploratory excavation and the necessary emergency repairs on the transmission waterline. All repairs were completed by Friday, January 28th.
The cost to repair this waterline break was $102,537.00 and is itemized in the attached invoice.
Financial Impact:
The payment of the repair will be made from the Water-Wastewater Utility Fund and a budget amendment may be required as this was an emergency repair.
