Title

Consider a resolution approving a contract renewal proposal for Third-Party Building Inspection Services with Safebuilt Texas, LLC, of Fort Worth, Texas, for the purpose of providing third-party building inspections services, and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve a contract renewal proposal for Third-Party Building Inspection Services with Safebuilt Texas, LLC, of Fort Worth, Texas for the purpose of providing third-party building inspections services, for the Community Development Department, in the amount $156,750.00; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Background:

In April 2023, a contract was awarded to Safebuilt Texas, LLC for third-party building inspections services. The City has used a third-party for building inspections services for approximately twenty years, with Countywide Inspections Services and its successor, Safebuilt Texas, LLC, providing said services since 2013.

The contract with Safebuilt may be renewed for up to four (4) additional years, for a contract period not to exceed a total of five (5) years. Additionally, working with Safebuilt, staff was able to identify a fixed annual escalation amount of 4.5% that would allow for the consistent projection of costs over the life of the contract. Those not to exceed costs are as follows:

                     Year 1 - Original Contract - $150,000.00
                     Year 2 - Renewal 1 - $156,750.00
                     Year 3 - Renewal 2 - $163.803.75
                     Year 4 - Renewal 3 - $171,174.92
                     Year 5 - Renewal 4 - $178,877.79

Financial Impact:

Funding for this activity is included in the Community Development Department’s Building and Construction Services division operating budget with funding provided by the General Fund. This item is annually renewable for a period not to exceed five (5) total years.
