Title

Consider a resolution approving a proposal from Anderson Asphalt and Concrete of Dallas, Texas, for stabilization improvements to Shady Grove for the Public Works Department as part of a performance bond obligation; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve a resolution approving a $75,075.00 proposal from Anderson Asphalt and Concrete of Dallas, Texas; to stabilize Shady Grove for the Public Works Department as part of their performance bond obligation.

Background:

Improvements to Shady Grove Road were initially approved by the council in late 2023 to repave the roadway from Keller Smithfield west to Rapp Rd.  Work was completed in June 2024 in its existing configuration from Smithfield Road to Rapp Road, as well as constructing a trail from Willow Glen Court to Sarah Brooks Drive.

At the 2-year performance evaluation, the roadway shows signs of base failure and surface distress. Anderson Asphalt and Concrete has committed to fulfilling their obligation to reinstall the roadway surface per their performance bond. However, the base needs to be strengthened to avoid a repeat of this failure. As a result, the base will be strengthened by stabilizing with cement. This is beyond what was originally designed for the roadway and results in a cost beyond what the bond covers.

Financial Considerations:

Funding is available in the Fiscal Year 2026 Street Improvement Fund budget.
