Consider a resolution approving a Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services with the Tarrant County Elections Administrator to conduct the City of Keller General Election for the purpose of electing the Mayor and City Council Places 5 and 6, and to conduct a Special Election for the purpose of electing City Council Place 4 to fill an unexpired term, to be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026; and authorizing the Mayor to execute the Agreement and Contract.
Background:
The proposed Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services with the Tarrant County Elections Administrator outlines the duties and services of the Tarrant County Elections Administrator, as well as the City of Keller’s responsibilities for the May 2, 2026, Joint General and Special Elections.
Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services with Tarrant County Elections includes:
(1) All entities participating in the May 2, 2026, Joint Election will share early voting locations. Early voting will be conducted at multiple locations throughout Tarrant County, including Keller Town Hall, and any qualified voter may vote at any early voting location in the county for which they are eligible.
(2) On Election Day, all entities participating in the May 2, 2026, Joint Election will utilize countywide vote centers. Voters may cast their ballot at any Election Day polling location within Tarrant County.
(3) The County’s electronic voting equipment for said election includes the Hart InterCivic Verity Voting System (Version 2.7), which has been approved by the Texas Secretary of State.
Budget Impact:
The City of Keller’s total cost estimate to participate in the May 2, 2026, Joint Election conducted by the Tarrant County Elections Administrator is $37,768.17. Funding for this election is available in the FY 2025-26 City Secretary budget.
Legal Review:
The Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney.
Council Action:
Staff recommends approval of the proposed Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services with the Tarrant County Elections Administrator.
