Title

Consider a resolution approving the purchase of as-needed concrete cutting services from Precision Concrete Cutting of Dallas, Texas; through The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) cooperative purchasing program, for the City-Wide Concrete Repair Project for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Approving the purchase of concrete cutting services from Precision Concrete Cutting of Dallas, Texas; through the TIPS cooperative purchasing program, in the amount of $75,000.00.

Background:

TIPS is a cooperative purchasing group and program that allows state and local governments to benefit from shared purchasing power. Utilizing this type of program for construction and repair services meets the City of Keller’s competitive bidding requirements and streamlines the purchasing process.

The Public Works department will utilize the services of Precision Concrete Cutting to address locations with known repair needs by “shaving” the sidewalk panels and avoid the need of a full removal and replacement of sidewalk panels in order to meet ADA standards. This project is focused on the southeast quadrant of the City and will address the worst of the trip hazards.

City staff has reviewed and determined that the bid from Precision Concrete Cutting of Dallas, Texas provides for the lowest and most responsible unit prices for such services and recommends the purchase of concrete cutting services in the amount of $75,000, through the end of the fiscal year. Assuming this project is successful, similar agreements may be seen in the future.

Financial Impact:

Funding is included in the Street System Capital Improvements Project Fund with funding provided by the General Fund.
