Title
Consider a resolution approving the purchase of Traffic Signal Emergency Pre-Emption Equipment from Paradigm Traffic Systems, of Arlington, Texas, for the Fire Department through the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Approve the purchase of traffic signal emergency pre-emption equipment from Paradigm Traffic Systems, of Arlington, Texas, through the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative in the amount of $117,900.00.
Background:
The Keller Fire Department is requesting replacement of vehicle-mounted traffic signal emergency pre-emption equipment in order to maintain compatibility with the City’s recently upgraded traffic signal management system. The current pre-emption equipment installed on fire apparatus has reached the end of its service life and is no longer compatible with the upgraded signal infrastructure.
Traffic signal pre-emption equipment allows emergency vehicles to communicate with traffic signals and temporarily alter signal timing to provide a safe and efficient route through intersections during emergency responses. The proposed equipment will allow fire apparatus to interface with the City’s upgraded traffic signal system, improving response times while maintaining safe traffic operations throughout the community.
City staff obtained a quote from Paradigm Traffic Systems through the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative for the required equipment. The quote includes vehicle-mounted units and associated communication equipment necessary for integration with the City’s traffic signal infrastructure.
Utilizing the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative allows the City to benefit from competitively procured pricing while reducing administrative costs and procurement time. This approach ensures timely acquisition of the necessary equipment while supporting improved emergency response operations
