Title
Consider a resolution approving a construction estimate from Union Pacific Railroad of Omaha, Nebraska; for the Bear Creek Parkway Sidewalk Improvements project for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving a construction estimate from Union Pacific Railroad for the Bear Creek Parkway Sidewalk Improvements project in the amount of $61,948.00.
Background:
As part of the overall citywide efforts to improve the sidewalk network, staff, with the assistance of Multatech Engineering, has been working with Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) on sidewalk improvements at the railroad crossings at Golden Triangle Boulevard and Bear Creek Parkway. The bulk of these improvements will require work in UPRR’s right of way, which will be performed by the railroad. Additional improvements outside of the railroad right of way will come at a later date. Upon approval of this estimate, a Construction and Maintenance Agreement from UPRR will be sent for execution. This estimate is only for the Bear Creek Parkway location. A separate agenda item will be presented for the Golden Triangle Boulevard location.
Construction plans for sidewalk improvements on Bear Creek Parkway that cross the railroad right of way have been prepared and submitted to UPRR for review and approval. Upon approval, UPRR prepared a construction estimate for improvements needed in the railroad right of way for the project. The next step, upon approval of this estimate, will be the execution of the Construction and Maintenance Agreement with UPRR. After that, the city will make the payment and UPRR will schedule and complete the work. The city will then follow up with sidewalk improvements outside of the railroad right of way.
