Consider a resolution calling the General Election for City Council Place 1 and City Council Place 2 for the City of Keller, to be held on May 4, 2024, as set forth by the City Charter and Texas Election Code.
Background:
The proposed resolution is ordering the May 4, 2024 City of Keller General Election for City Council Place 1 and City Council Place 2. As a part of the election process the City Council orders the election and traditionally this has been done prior to the candidate filing period (Wednesday, January 16, 2024 through Friday, February 16, 2024) for a place on the ballot.
Tarrant County Elections is preparing a standard Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services to be utilized by all entities for the May 4, 2024 General Election, which includes the following information:
All entities will share the County’s regular early voting locations. The main early voting location is at Tarrant County Elections Center, 2700 Premier Street, Fort Worth, Texas. Keller Town Hall is included as one of Tarrant County’s early voting locations. All registered voters in the City of Keller will be able to vote at any Tarrant County early voting location.
On Election Day the registered voters in the City of Keller will be able to vote at any Tarrant County Election Day voting location.
The County’s electronic voting equipment for said election includes the Hart InterCivic Verity Voting System (Version 2.3.1), which has been approved by the Secretary of State.
Combined ballots in those polling places where jurisdictions overlap will be utilized to be voted on at each polling location for the May 4, 2024 General Election.
Financial Considerations:
The City’s cost for the May 4, 2024 General Election will be included in Tarrant County’s Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services and will be presented to the City Council at a later date for your approval.
