Title

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving a professional services agreement with O’Brien Engineering, Inc. of Carrollton, Texas; to provide professional engineering services related to the Citywide Streambank Erosion Study in the amount of $99,500.

Background:

During the update of the Tarrant County Emergency Management Plan, which the city participates in, a hazard mitigation area identified was streambank erosion in the major drainage ways throughout the city.  This study will identify current and potential erosion areas and provide recommendations for mitigation measures.

On June 1, 2021, staff received 75 statements of qualifications from engineering firms in response to the city’s general request for qualifications.  Staff reviewed the relevant qualification submissions and determined O’Brien Engineering, Inc. to be the best qualified firm to meet our current needs.

The scope of the agreement includes analysis of existing data, visual inspections and surveys of the drainage ways, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, scour analysis, preparation of streambank stabilization best management practices, preparation of a priority repair list with cost estimates and policy recommendations to prevent recurring erosion issues and to protect existing infrastructure.

Financial Impact:

Funding is included in the Drainage Capital Improvement Project Fund with funding provided by the Drainage Utility Fund.
