Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving Change Order No. 1 to the contract with Tejas Cutters, LLC., for the construction of the Mount Gilead and Roanoke Road Hike and Bike Trail Connection, in the amount of $136,075.85.

Background:

On July 17, 2025, the City of Keller approved the bid from Tejas Cutters, LLC., of Decatur, Texas for the construction of the Mount Gilead and Roanoke Road Hike and Bike Trail Connection. This 10-foot-wide, 1,350 foot long concrete Hike and Bike Trail will connect Woodborough Lane to Roanoke Road, then extend north another 500 feet towards Overton Ridge Park.

A change order was developed by the engineering firms of Westwood and Neel Schaffer to connect the end of this trail to Overton Ridge Park with a 6-foot-wide sidewalk. Staff has determined that it will be the most cost effective method to add this to the existing contract with Tejas Cutters, LLC.

Financial Impact:

Funding is included in the Parks Capital Improvement Project Fund with funding provided by the Keller Development Corporation Fund.

Citizen Input/Board Review:

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has recommended to connect Overton Ridge Park with this trail. This 750 foot long, 6 foot wide sidewalk will provide pedestrians that connection.

Legal Review:

The City Attorney has reviewed and approved this item.

Alternatives:

City Council has the following alternatives:
