Consider a resolution approving an Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services with the Tarrant County Elections Administrator, to conduct the City of Keller Special Election, for the purpose of filling the unexpired term of City Council Place 3, to be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, and authorizing the Mayor to execute said Agreement and Contract.
Background:
The proposed Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services with the Tarrant County Elections Administrator outlines the duties and services of the Tarrant County Elections Administrator, and the City of Keller’s responsibilities for the August 31, 2024, Special Election. The Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services with Tarrant County Elections includes:
(1) the City of Keller is the only entity participating in the August 31, 2024, Special Election, therefore the only voting sites that will be available will be Keller Town Hall and the Main Early Voting Site. Keller voters may vote at either site for Early Voting.
(2) On Election Day, Keller Town Hall will be the only voting location.
(3) The County’s electronic voting equipment for said election includes the Hart InterCivic Verity Voting System (Version 2.7), which has been approved by the Secretary of State.
Budget Impact:
The City of Keller’s total cost estimate to participate in the August 31, 2024, Special Election conducted by the Tarrant County Elections Administrator is $24,058.00. Funding for this election is available in the FY 2023-24 City Secretary budget.
Legal Review:
The Agreement and Contract for Election Services has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney.
Council Action:
Staff recommends approval of the proposed Joint Election Agreement and Contract for Election Services with Tarrant County.
