Title

Consider a resolution approving the purchase of School Zone Communications Equipment from Paradigm Traffic Systems, of Arlington, Texas, for the Public Works Department, through the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve the purchase of School Zone Communications Equipment from Paradigm Traffic Systems, of Arlington, Texas through the Buyboard Purchasing Cooperative in the amount of $83,700.00.

Background:

The City of Keller Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the city’s traffic control and school zone systems to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow. The current school zone timer devices are obsolete and do not contain communications capability, limiting their ability to integrate with the City’s traffic management system.

This project will replace existing timers with upgraded devices that include communication capability, allowing them to be managed and monitored through the City’s traffic management system. City staff obtained a quote from Paradigm Traffic Systems through the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative for the required equipment, which includes Applied Information school timer switch and cell units, Glance software with configuration, and a 10-year connectivity plan.

By leveraging cooperative purchasing, the City benefits from competitive pricing, reduced administrative burden, and quick access to necessary materials to minimize downtime at signal locations.

Financial Impact:

Funding is included in the Street Maintenance operations budget for the Public Works Department with funding provided by the General Fund.

Council Action:

Staff recommends approval of the item as presented.
