Title

Consider a resolution approving Contract Amendment # 4 to an Agreement for Design Services and Contract Administration with Parkhill, of Arlington, Texas, for design services related to the increased scope of the Splashpad Project at the Keller Sports Park for the Parks and Recreation Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving Contract Amendment # 4 to an Agreement for Design Services and Contract Administration with Parkhill, of Arlington, Texas in the total amount of $152,379.00.  The original contract amount for the splashpad was $246,423.00.  With this amendment, the total contract amount for the splashpad will be $398,802.00.

Background:

The city entered into a professional services agreement with Parkhill on March 22, 2022 for the construction document, bidding and construction administration phase services for the Keller Sports Park Renovation Project, which is currently under construction.

On August 1, 2023, City Council approved Resolution No. 4673 for Contract Amendment No. 3 to the professional services agreement with Parkhill to design and engineer a splashpad at the Keller Sports Park.

The original budget for the splashpad was $1,450,000, and Parkhill's design fee was $246,423. After completing the schematic design phase of the splashpad, and additional amenities included in the splashpad scope, the new budget is $4,886,208.

Contract Amendment # 4 to Parkhill's original agreement will adjust the design costs proportionately to the updated budget and scope. The additional design cost of $152,379 will bring the total design cost to $398,802, or 8% of the projected cost of the project.

Financial Impact:

Funding in the amount of $152,379.00 shall be paid from the Parks Capital Improvement Project Fund with funding provided by the Keller Development Corporation Fund. A budget amendment to the FY2023/24 Budget will be required.

Citizen Input/Board Review:

Members of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board helped select Parkhill as the architect for the Splashpad, and members of the Keller Sports Park Task Force recommended that this splashpad be located in the Keller Sports Park. City Council has approved the final design and construction cost of the splashpad.

Legal Review:
