Title

Consider a resolution approving a construction proposal from Anderson Asphalt and Concrete of Dallas, Texas; for the Shady Grove Reconstruction Project for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve the construction proposal from Anderson Asphalt and Concrete of Dallas, Texas, through The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) cooperative purchasing program, in the amount of $768,005.80.

Background:

Improvements to Shady Grove Road were initially intended to repave the roadway in its existing configuration from Smithfield Road to Rapp Road, as well as constructing a trail from Willow Glen Court to Sarah Brooks Drive.

At the May 2, 2023 City Council meeting, a contract was awarded to Apple Pavement Services to complete the project. However, at the September 5, 2023 City Council meeting, the City elected to cancel the remainder of the contract due to ongoing performance issues. This left the remaining portion of roadway between Keller-Smithfield Road and Rapp Road incomplete.

Utilizing the TIPS purchasing cooperative, the City selected Anderson Asphalt and Concrete to complete the remaining portion of roadway between Keller-Smithfield Road and Rapp Road. TIPS is a purchasing program that allows state and local governments to benefit from the shared purchasing power of numerous state entities. A detailed bid sheet for the maintenance activity is included with this memo as an attachment.

Financial Impact:

Funding is included in the Street System Capital Improvements Project Fund with funding provided by the General Fund and the Keller Development Corporation Capital Improvement Fund.
