Consider and take possible action on a resolution nominating candidates for the election of members to the Tarrant Appraisal District Board of Directors.
Action Requested:
Approve a resolution nominating candidates for the Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) Board of Directors. The City of Keller is entitled to nine (9) votes to be cast in the upcoming election to fill two (2) expiring positions on the TAD Board of Directors.
Background:
The Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) is seeking nominations for candidates to serve on the Board of Directors. The terms of service for two appointed members of the current Board of Directors will expire on December 31, 2025.
As required by Section 6.03 of the Texas Property Tax Code, nominations must be submitted to the Chief Appraiser as a resolution or official action adopted by the City Council. Nominations must be received by the TAD office no later than October 14, 2025.
To be eligible to serve as a director, a nominee must have resided in Tarrant County for at least two years immediately preceding January 1, 2026. An otherwise eligible individual is not ineligible because they are a member of the governing body of a taxing unit in the county. However, employees of taxing units (unless they are also elected officials), individuals with recent TAD employment, persons engaged in appraisal/representation businesses, or individuals with certain conflicts of interest are prohibited from serving.
Based on the 2025 adjusted tax levy, Keller has been allocated nine (9) votes for this election.
The election will be conducted by December 15, 2025, and the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will begin terms on January 1, 2026.
This item provides the opportunity for the City Council to nominate candidates for the TAD Board of Directors.
