Title

Consider a resolution approving a Professional Services Agreement with Dunaway, of Farmersville, Texas; for the purpose of providing construction inspection services for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve a Professional Services Agreement with Dunaway, of Farmersville, Texas in the amount of $50,000.

Background:

With the retirement of a construction inspector in the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department, the City entered into a Professional Services Agreement with Dunaway in May 2025 to assist with construction inspections. That contract is nearing completion and the construction inspector position remains vacant. This new agreement provides for services on an as-needed basis until the position can be filled.

The construction inspector’s responsibilities include inspecting and documenting the installation of public infrastructure on City and development projects, conducting weekly erosion control inspections on all active construction sites, inspecting sanitary sewer and water connections, drive approaches and sidewalk installations, and performing drainage and grading inspections on new residential construction. These inspections are critical to ensuring that City standards and specifications are met.

The initial contract with Dunaway, intended as a one-time service, was for $45,000. With this contract, total expenditures for this activity could reach $95,000 if fully utilized. Should the inspector position remain unfilled, any further renewals will be brought back to City Council for consideration.

Financial Impact:

Funds are included in the Drainage Operations division of the Public Works Department, with funding provided by the Drainage Utility fund.
