Consider a resolution approving the purchase and installation of park amenities including four lighted pickleball courts, one shade structure, and sidewalk and trail improvements for Bear Creek Park, from The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, LLC., of Keller, Texas, through the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program, for the Parks and Recreation Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchase documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving the purchase and installation of park amenities including four lighted pickleball courts, one shade structure, and sidewalk and trail improvements, from The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, LLC., of Keller, Texas, in the amount of $399,777.00, through the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program.
Background:
The existing four pickleball courts at Bear Creek Park have shown to be extremely popular. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board had multiple public input meetings where residents requested additional courts in Bear Creek Park. City Council directed staff to obtain a proposal for more courts and additional amenities at the August 16, 2022 City Council meeting.
The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, LLC., of Keller, Texas, has a reputation as a quality playground and park amenity installer, and the Parks and Recreation Department, as well as The Keller Pointe, have utilized their services multiple times in the past.
Financial Impact:
These park improvements, in the amount of $399,777.00 shall be paid from the Parks Capital Improvement Project Fund with funding from the adopted FY 2022-23 Keller Development Corporation Budget.
Citizen Input/Board Review:
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board received multiple requests from the public for these amenities. Funding was included in the FY 2022-23 Keller Development Corporation Budget for this project. After receiving input, The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, LLC., created the proposed pickleball courts, shade structure, sidewalk and trail improvement layout and components.
