Body

Background:

The City of Keller currently enforces the 2021 International Fire Code with local amendments. The International Code Council updates the Fire Code every three years to reflect evolving best practices, advancements in fire protection, and lessons learned from fire incidents.

To remain current and consistent with surrounding North Texas communities, the Keller Fire Marshal’s Office reviewed the 2024 International Fire Code and applicable regional amendments recommended by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). The proposed ordinance adopts the 2024 edition with local amendments tailored to address community-specific needs and clarify enforcement provisions.

Key updates include provisions related to false fire alarms, open burning, and the authority of the Fire Marshal’s Office.

The proposed ordinance aligns with the City’s adopted Fee Schedule.
