Title

Consider an ordinance amending the City of Keller Code of Ordinances by amending Chapter 18, Traffic, Article II, Speed Limits, Section 18-210, School Zone Speed Provisions to reflect current school times; providing a penalty; providing a severability clause; authorizing publication; and establishing an effective date.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider an amendment to Section 18-210 of Code of Ordinances to reflect the 2022-23 school time changes for Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and to modify the school zone speed restriction times accordingly.

Background:

The Municipal Code contains references for each school zone in the city by stating a specific start and end time.  Schools adjust their schedule as needed to respond the continuously changing needs of the student population.  For the 2022/23 school year, the school start/end time changes for Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton requires a commensurate change in the Municipal Code.

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton changed their start time to 8:00 a.m. and release time to 3:15 p.m. These times now fall outside of the flashing beacon times.  As a result, a modification of the Municipal Code is necessary to reflect a school zone speed restriction time period that reflects these new start and release times.
