Consider a resolution approving an agreement for Design Services and Contract Administration with Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc., of Dallas, Texas, relating to the Phase III of the 1709 Median Landscape Improvement Project, for the Parks and Recreation Department, and further authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
City Council consideration of an agreement with Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc., to provide design services and contract administration relating to the Phase III of the 1709 Median Landscape Improvement Project in the amount of $74,000.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents relating thereto.
Background:
The City of Keller applied for funding from the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Green Ribbon Project for 2025, but was not selected to receive any funding. Phase III of the 1709 Medians will provide landscape improvements to the medians between Keller Smithfield Road and Pearson Lane.
Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc. was contacted to provide these services based on their previous work on median beautification projects in the City of Keller. The concept plan includes landscape, hardscape and irrigation. Plantings will consist of Texas native and adaptive shrubs, ornamental grasses, groundcover and ornamental trees. Hardscape improvements will include hardwood mulch and river rock, as well as 12” concrete mow strips along the back of curb for maintenance and safety.
Financial Impact:
Funding in the amount of $74,000.00 shall be paid from the Street Capital Improvement fund with funding provided from the General Fund. A budget amendment to the FY2023/24 Budget will be required.

Median Beautification was in the top five New Investment Priorities in the most recent Citizen Survey.
Legal Review:
The proposed agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney.
