Title

Consider a resolution approving a second amendment to the Interlocal Agreement for combined municipal court services for the cities of Colleyville and Keller; and providing an effective date.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider approving the second agreement to the Combined Municipal Court Interlocal Agreement with the City of Colleyville to extend the Interlocal Agreement thru September 30, 2028.

Background:

The Interlocal Agreement for Combined Municipal Court Services for the cities of Keller and Colleyville had an initial six-year term from October 1, 2012, to September 30, 2018. The agreement allows for two extensions of five years each upon mutual consent. A first amendment to the Interlocal Agreement was approved on July 17, 2018, authorizing an extension through September 30, 2023.

Both the cities of Keller and Colleyville have expressed a desire to continue the combined municipal court, finding the joint court arrangement to be beneficial for both cities. This agenda item provides for extension of the Interlocal Agreement for a second five-year term through September 30, 2028.

The City of Colleyville approved the amendment to the Interlocal Agreement of the Combined Municipal Court at their June 18, 2024, Council meeting.

Legal Review:

The proposed agreement was reviewed by the City Attorney.
