Action Requested:
Approve a professional services agreement with Kimley Horn of Denton, Texas; for the purpose of providing professional engineering design for the Mt. Gilead Road Reconstruction project for the Public Works Department, in the amount of $2,092,100.00; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents.
Background:
Mt. Gilead Road is currently a two-lane road with a rural cross section. It is included in the updated Major Thoroughfare Plan as a four-lane arterial. With the Center Stage development underway and continued expansion of Milestone Church, improvements to Mt. Gilead Road are needed. Both developments will be participating in road improvement costs relative to their respective traffic impacts and impact fee contributions.
The scope of this contract includes utility coordination, community engagement, data collection and analysis, intersection evaluation, roadway design, retaining wall design, right of way documentation, appraisals and negotiations, accessibility review bidding phase services and construction phase services.
The section from US 377 to just east of Oak Drive will be designed to 100% and bid for construction. The east section, from just east of Oak Drive to Bourland Road will stop at the 30% design level.
Financial Impact:
Funding for this activity is included in the Street System Capital Improvement Project Fund with funding provided by the General Fund and the Roadway Impact Fee Fund.
