Title

Consider a resolution approving a professional services agreement with Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam (LAN) of Fort Worth, Texas, for the purpose of providing professional engineering design, relating to the emergency repair for the Highland Oaks Crossing Channel Gabion Repair project; for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve a professional services agreement with Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam of Fort Worth, Texas to provide professional engineering services in the amount of $90,420.00 for the emergency repair for the Highland Oaks Crossing Channel Gabion Repair project.

Background:

The Highland Oaks Crossing Channel is located between Rufe Snow Drive and North Tarrant Parkway.  In 2010, improvements were made to this channel that included gabion basket walls around the main pond.  A section of this wall on the south side of the pond, adjacent to 861 and 881 North Tarrant Parkway has failed and must be repaired.  The contract includes a design for temporary repairs to contain the failure and permanent repairs.

Upon notification of the failure, city staff secured the area with barricades and fencing. Staff has also stayed in contact with the property owner closest to the failure area. The temporary repair design and construction will begin immediately upon approval of this contract.

Financial Impact:

The engineering and repair costs will be paid from the Public Works - Drainage Maintenance operations budget with funding provided by the Drainage Utility Fund. A year-end budget amendment may be required for this emergency repair.
