Title

Consider a resolution approving a payment to S.Y.B Construction Co., Inc. of Irving, Texas for an emergency repair of the 18-inch transmission waterline owned by the City of Keller at the Pearson Pump Station.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve a resolution which authorizes a payment of $78,178.78 to S.Y.B Construction Co., Inc. of Irving, Texas for the emergency repair of the 18-inch transmission waterline owned by the City of Keller at the Pearson Pump Station.

Background:

In early October, 2023, a leak was detected on the Keller-owned 18” waterline at the Pearson Pump Station.  This transmission line provides service to the northern part of the city water system.  Staff was able to isolate a section of the water line without disrupting water service to any customers. Due to the emergency nature of this work, staff secured repair services through S.Y.B. Construction without going through the normal advertising and award process.

S.Y.B. Construction, with the assistance of staff, was able to be on site the following Wednesday, October 11th to begin repair planning activities. Once needed parts were received, the contractor was able to begin repair work on or about November 10, 2023.  All repairs were completed by Friday, November 24th.

The cost to repair this waterline leak was $78,178.78 and is itemized in the attached invoice.

Financial Impact:

The repair costs will be paid from the Public Works - Water Distribution operations budget with funding provided by the Water & Wastewater Utility fund. A year-end budget amendment may be required for this emergency repair.
