Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving the purchase of pool deck replacement and tile cleaning services for the Indoor Pool, from the Buy Board vendor Sunbelt Pools, Inc. of Dallas, Texas for The Keller Pointe Recreation and Aquatic Center and cancelling the agreement approved on October 5, 2021 with Sunbelt Pools, Inc. of Dallas, Texas effective January 18, 2022.
Background:
The City of Keller entered into an agreement with Sunbelt Pools, Inc. on October 5, 2021 to replace the decking surface and clean the tile of the indoor pool. During the replacement process of the rubberized decking surface Sunbelt Pools, Inc. discovered voids, extensive rebar expansion, slab cracking and concerns that required the expertise of an aquatic engineer. The C.T. Brannon Corporation engineers evaluated the damage and provided a plan for repair. Due to the significant nature of the repair staff recommends the current agreement be cancelled effective January 18, 2021 and the city enter into a new agreement with Buy Board vendor Sunbelt Pools, Inc. for $479,669.00, to completely replace the existing pool decking.
Sunbelt Pools, Inc. estimates if approved they could begin work February 1st, 2022 and potentially release the pool for use by May 1st, 2022.
This agreement will increase the total amount of the project to $507,244.00, which includes $25,789.00 under the original contract for demolition to date and reinstallation of the slide sections that have been removed and $1,786.00 for the professional aquatic engineering evaluation. Of the original $110,308.00 approved, $27,575.00 has been spent. This agreement will be for $479,669.00, the cost to replace the deck and tile cleaning services.
Financial Impact:
The total cost to replace the deck and clean the tile is $479,669.00. This money will come out of The Keller Pointe Recreation/Aquatic Fund and will require a future budget amendment.
