Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with Wilson Office Interiors, of Dallas, Texas, for the purchase and installation of furniture for the Keller Senior Activities Center, through the OMNIA Cooperative Purchasing for Local Government Procurement Program, The Interlocal Purchasing System, and the National Cooperative Purchasing Alliance, for the Parks and Recreation Department, and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchase documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with Wilson Office Interiors for the purchase and installation of furniture for the Keller Senior Activities Center for a total cost of $291,867.45.
Background:
The City has selected Wilson Office Interiors as the vendor to supply furniture for the new Senior Activities Center. The equipment chosen will include various chairs, tables, office furniture, trash receptacles, kitchen tables, and storage shelving units to fully furnish each room in the new facility.
The original budget for furniture for the Senior Activities Center was $154,000.00. The cost of materials has increased significantly since the budget was created, and the cost of the furniture is $273,479.17, and freight and installation is an additional $18,388.28, for a total of $291,867.45. The owner's contingency in the city's budget is currently $190,390.00. Utilizing some of this contingency will allow staff to fully furnish the facility, and still leave $52,500.00 in the owner's contingency funds. In addition, there still remains contingency funds in the construction portion of the project, in the amount of $236,000.00. Staff feels confident that at the conclusion of the project, the entire project will be under budget.
Financial Impact:
Funding for the furniture for the Senior Activities Center is budgeted in the Furniture, Fitness and Equipment Fund with funding provided by the Fiscal Year 2018-19 General Fund Budget and 2020 General Obligation Bond Funds and is included in the City’s allowance budget within the Senior Activities Center construction budget. The total cost of all the furniture is $291,867.45.
