Title
Consider a resolution approving a construction contract with Green Dream International, LLC of Irving, Texas; for the Pate Orr Sidewalk Improvements project for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving a contract for construction of the Pate Orr Sidewalk Improvements project to Green Dream International, LLC in the amount of $646,024.80.
Background:
As a continuation of installing sidewalks near pedestrian activity centers, Pate Orr is the next portion of sidewalk that will connect the existing sidewalk system to Bear Creek Intermediate School. This project was originally envisioned as part of last year’s sidewalk construction, but because of the drainage challenges was pushed to this fiscal year to better address the complexities of the design.
In March 2019, the City entered into an agreement with Dunaway Associates (Dunaway) to prepare an application to the Texas Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School call for projects and the supporting documents for eight locations. Utimately none of the locations were chosen and city staff directed Dunaway to move forward with the design of the Bear Creek Intermediate campus location, which included sidewalks on Pate Orr, Clover Lane, India Street and Kate Court.
During design of the Pate Orr section, City Council directed staff to install a sidewalk along the west side of Pate Orr, rather than alternating sides as was originally planned. As a result, large sections of drainage ditch will be moved underground as a part of the project and will be included with the project costs
On August 24, 2022, nine (9) bids were received. Staff, with the assistance of Dunaway, reviewed the bids and evaluated the references provided with the bid and recommends Green Dream International, LLC of Irving, Texas be awarded the contract in the amount of $646,024.80 with construction to be substantially complete within 120 calendar days of notice to proceed.
A bid summary is included for reference.
Financial Impact:
