Title

Consider a resolution approving a contract with Baley & Co Enterprises LLC (DBA Leak Geeks) of Fort Worth, TX for unforeseen wastewater line damage at Fire Station #3; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchasing documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving a payment of $95,024.23 to Leak Geeks for unforeseen repairs to the Fire Station #3 wastewater line which a cast iron line that is starting to leak and needs to be replaced.

Background:

The wastewater line at Fire Station #3 is made of cast iron instead of PVC and has begun to have small leaks.  The line will eventual fail completely due to the material.  The proposed repair will dig under the station and replace the line with a new wastewater line.  This is considered an unforeseen repair since the leaks and pipe damage were not known until recently and therefore are exempt from competitive bidding requirements.  However, staff did seek out quotes for the repair and determined Leak Geeks to be the best value based upon price and timeliness to make the repair.

Financial Impact:

The estimated cost of the repair is $95,024.23 and will be funded thru the FY 2022-23 Fire Department building maintenance budget.
