Consider a resolution approving the purchase of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Units and Equipment through the BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program, for the City of Keller Fire Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchase documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving the purchase of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Units and Equipment for the Fire Department.
Background:
The Fire Department has been awarded funding to replace its aging Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) units and associated equipment through FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.
The Fire Department is proposing the purchase of 21 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Units and associated equipment that will replace all of the units currently in use by the department. Each unit includes one pack, two breathing air cylinders and one mask. The purchase also includes an additional 35 masks, fill-station “quick-connect” fittings for the department breathing air compressor, rechargeable batteries and battery charging stations.
The purchase price for the equipment is $187,214.28, with grant funding available in the amount of $150,431.81, leaving the city responsible at $36,782.47.
The use of BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing has been determined to be the lowest and most responsible method of purchasing to meet both state and federal procurement requirements.
Financial Impact:
The city’s responsibility for the purchase is $36,782.47. Funding is available within the Fire Department’s FY 2019-20 Adopted Budget.
