Title

Consider a resolution approving a professional services agreement with Freese and Nichols, of Fort Worth, Texas for the Utility System Generators project, for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve a professional services agreement with Freese and Nichols, of Fort Worth, Texas for the Utility System Generators project in the amount of $1,112,800.00.

Background:

In 2022, the City of Keller received funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) that will be used for installing generators for back up power at the Pearson water pump station and four (4) sanitary sewer lift stations.  City staff worked with Freese and Nichols to develop a professional services scope to prepare plans and specifications.  That scope includes design, utility coordination, geotechnical investigation, bid and construction phase services and construction inspection.

Each of these sites lacks back up power generation. This project will add diesel generators to each site to provide uninterrupted power to maintain service during power outages. Each site has unique power demands based on the size and number of pumps.

Financial Impact:

Funding for this activity is included in the Water & Wastewater Capital Improvements Project Fund with funding provided by the Water & Wastewater Utility Fund and ARPA funds.
