Title
Consider a resolution approving the construction bid for the Bear Creek Parkway Bridge Erosion Protection project, from Cole Construction, Inc., of Fort Worth, Texas; for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Approve the construction bid from Cole Construction, Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas; for the Bear Creek Parkway Bridge Erosion Protection project in the amount of $530,300.00.
Background:
In late 2019, the City received a report from a concerned citizen regarding noticeable erosion around the bridge piers on Bear Creek Parkway, at the bridge crossing near Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club. After further investigation, staff determined that repairs were necessary and engaged Teague, Nall & Perkins to design the repairs and assist in bidding the work.
On March 26, 2025, ten (10) sealed bids for the project. City staff reviewed all bids and determined that the lowest bidder, AMS Land Company LLC, was a non-responsible bidder due to failure to submit required documentation. The next lowest bid was submitted by Cole Construction, Inc. After evaluating qualifications and bonding capacity, staff recommends Cole Construction, Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas, be awarded the bid in the amount of $530,300.00. The total amount budgeted for these repairs is $1,200,000.00.
Financial Impact:
Funding is included in the Street System Capital Improvement Project Fund, with funding provided by the General Fund. As unforeseen circumstances are encountered that results in an overage of the project budget, further council action and budget amendments may be required.
