Consider a resolution approving the Matching Funds Program Application with the Pace Family, for the purchase and installation of a Junior Log Cabin for the Overton Ridge Park Playground, from The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, of Keller, Texas, for the Parks and Recreation Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all agreement documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider approving a Keller Development Corporation (KDC) Matching Funds Program application with the Pace Family.

Background:

In 2014, the Keller Development Corporation (KDC) created a Matching Funds Program to enable the city to leverage its capital funding to assist with the development of the Parks and Recreation System.

The Pace Family has submitted an application to partner on the installation of an additional play component for the All-Inclusive Playground at Overton Ridge Park.

The additional play component is a creative play element called the Junior Log Cabin. This cabin will be called “Trent’s Clubhouse”, and it will offer imaginative play to children of all abilities. The Pace Family would also like to install a permanent plaque in the pavilion at Overton Ridge Park to share Trent’s story.

The City has obtained a quote for the Junior Log Cabin from The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot of Keller, in the total amount of $5,814.00 with $2,907.00 funded by the Pace Family, and $2,907.00 funded by the Keller Development Corporation.

Financial Impact:

Approval of this application is within the Keller Development Corporation Fund Balance. A budget amendment will be needed to create a budget for the expenditure and to move the funds from the Keller Development Corporation Fund to the Parks Capital Improvement Project Fund.

Citizen Input/Board Review:

The Parks and Recreation Board and the Keller Development Corporation have unanimously recommended approving the Matching Funds Program application from the Pace Family.
