Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with Insight Public Sector to purchase Cisco SMARTnet hardware maintenance and support, through the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Cooperative Purchasing Program, for the Information Technology Department.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with Insight Public Sector to purchase Cisco SMARTnet hardware maintenance and support, through the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Cooperative Purchasing Program, for the Information Technology Department.

Background:

The City has been using Cisco networking and a Cisco IP phone system since 2002. During this time, the City has also purchased Cisco SMARTnet hardware maintenance and support on all Cisco hardware equipment. Because the Cisco networking equipment and IP phone system are critical to the City’s technology operations, we require 24/7 technical support and 4-hour hardware replacement.

Financial Impact:

The Fiscal Year 2022-23 cost for Cisco SMARTnet hardware is $54,285.89 and is included in the Information Technology Fund.

Alternatives:

City Council has the following alternatives:

-                     Approve as submitted

-                     Approve with changes

-                     Denial

Council Action:

Staff recommends approval of the resolution as presented.
