Title

Consider a resolution approving a professional services agreement with Wade Trim of Fort Worth, Texas; to provide professional engineering services related to the Misty Oaks Storm Drain Replacement Project; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents related thereto.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve a professional services agreement with Wade Trim of Fort Worth, Texas to provide professional engineering services in the amount of $75,944.00 for the Misty Oaks Storm Drain Replacement project.

Background:

The Country Hill Estates neighborhood was constructed in the 1980s using corrugated metal pipe for parts of its storm drainage system. Over time, this type of pipe is prone to rust and tends to degrade rapidly as it approaches the end of its service life. This is the only known instance of such piping in the neighborhood, and it has now reached the end of its service life.

During the construction of the 2022 Residential Street Reconstruction Project, portions of the pipe were exposed, revealing severe degradation. This item involves designing the replacement of the storm drainpipe in the reconstruction project area, along with associated restoration activities.

Financial Impact:

Funding is included in the Drainage Utility Capital Improvements Project fund with funding provided by the Drainage Utility Fund.  If unforeseen circumstances are encountered, which results in an overage of the project budget, further council action and budget amendments may be required.

Alternatives:

City Council has the following alternatives:

-                     Approve as submitted

-                     Approve with changes

-                     Denial
