Consider a resolution approving the purchase and installation of a replacement playground structure for the Chase Oaks Activity Node, from The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, LLC., of Keller, Texas, through the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program, for the Parks and Recreation Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchase documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving the purchase of a replacement playground structure, from The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, LLC., of Keller, Texas, in the amount of $109,787.00, through the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program.
Background:
The existing playground at the Chase Oaks Activity Node was installed in 2000, and is reaching the end of its useful life expectancy. Staff has conducted a review of all eleven playground structures within the Parks System, and determined that this playground is in the most need of replacement.
The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, LLC., of Keller, Texas, has a reputation as a quality playground installer, and the Parks and Recreation Department, as well as The Keller Pointe, have utilized their services multiple times in the past.
Financial Impact:
The replacement playground structure, in the amount of $109,787.00 shall be paid from the Parks Capital Improvement Project Fund with funding from the adopted FY 2021-22 Keller Development Corporation Budget.
Citizen Input/Board Review:
The Parks and Recreation board met with residents of the surrounding neighborhoods to receive input and recommendations for the playground and other park improvements to the Chase Oaks Activity Node. After receiving input, The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, LLC., created the proposed playground layout and components. The Parks and Recreation Board unanimously approved the recommendation to purchase this playground structure to replace the existing playground at the Chase Oaks Activity Node at their November 11, 2021 meeting.
