Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving a payment of $72,970.000 to North Texas Contracting of Keller, Texas for the emergency repair of the 16-inch transmission waterline owned by the City of Keller at the intersection of Mt. Gilead and Bourland Roads.

Background:

On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, a 16” water transmission line unexpectedly failed.  This transmission line provides service to the northern part of the city water system.  Staff was able to isolate a section of the water line without disrupting water service to any customers. Due to the emergency nature of this work, staff secured repair services through North Texas Contracting without going through the normal advertising and award process.

North Texas Contracting was able to be on site the following Tuesday, November 15th for exploratory excavation and to begin the necessary emergency repairs on the water transmission line.  All repairs were completed by Saturday, November 19th.

The cost to repair this waterline break was $72,970.00 and is itemized in the attached invoice.

Financial Impact:

The repair costs will be paid from the Public Works - Water Distribution operations budget with funding provided by the Water & Wastewater Utility fund. A year-end budget amendment may be required for this emergency repair.
