Title

Consider a resolution approving the purchase of one (1) replacement emergency diesel generator and installation services for the Marshall Branch West Wastewater Lift Station from Waukesha-Pearce Industries, of Houston, Texas, through the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative, and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Background:

The Marshall Branch West facility was constructed in 2005 and is the largest of the City’s wastewater lift stations, with a pumping capacity of 3.9 million gallons per day (MGD). This station includes a stationary generator to provide backup power during unplanned outages.

During a recent inspection the current generator was found to be inoperable. Further investigation determined that repair parts are no longer available due to the age of the equipment, and the unit is not repairable. A temporary rental generator is currently on-site until the replacement unit can be installed.

Waukesha-Pearce Industries of Houston, Texas participates in the regional BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative and can furnish and install a Generac 300KW generator for $118,063.00. The replacement generator will provide critical backup power during unplanned outages and prevent subsequent sewer backups and overflows.

Financial Impact:

Funding is available in the Water/Wastewater Capital Improvements Project Fund with funding provided by the Water & Wastewater Utility Fund.
