Title

Consider a resolution approving an agreement for Design Services and Contract Administration with Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc., of Dallas, Texas, relating to the Bates Street Park Improvements, and further authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

City Council consideration of an agreement with Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc., to provide design services relating to the Bates Street Park Improvements in the amount of $199,780.00 and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents relating thereto.

Background:

In FY 2018/19, a Concept Plan for Bates Street Park was created as part of the Old Town Keller East Development Project. The concept plan included an elevated pavilion, a seating area with bistro lighting, enhanced landscaping, multiple benches, a walking path, and an activity area.

The firm of Kimley Horn and Associates, Inc., was contacted because they completed the initial Bates Street Park Concept Plan. Options and alternatives will be presented to the Parks and Recreation Board, and a recommendation for development will be made to the City Council. Once the final design is determined, the project will be bid for construction, which will be presented to City Council for approval at that time.

Financial Impact:

Funding in the amount of $199,780.00 shall be paid from the Streets Capital Improvement Project Fund with funding from the adopted FY 2021/22 Keller Development Corporation Budget.

Citizen Input/Board Review:

The content of the design will be a result of numerous discussions with the Parks and Recreation Board.

Legal Review:

The proposed agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney.

Alternatives:

City Council has the following alternatives:

-                     Approve as submitted
