Consider an ordinance which replaces the 2012 Major Thoroughfare Plan with the 2022 Major Thoroughfare Plan (MTP).
Action Requested:
Approve an ordinance which replaces the 2012 Major Thoroughfare Plan with the 2022 Major Thoroughfare Plan (MTP).
Background:
In response to an updated Future Land Use Plan (FLUP) and in coordination with the update of the Impact Fee Program, the Major Thoroughfare Plan also requires updating. The updated MTP reflects the following changes:
• Change name to match state statutes
• Reduced 4U to 3U
• Removed Rapp Rd connection to US377
• Removed the diagonal Rapp Rd connection
• Added roadways to the map match neighboring city systems
• Added roadways to the map to reflect the entire roadway network
• Widened Mt Gilead to a 4-lane divided roadway
• Widened Bear Creek to a 4-lane divided roadway
• Included Intersections to better plan for future right of way needs
Citizen Input/Board Review:
While a public hearing is not required for this item, a public hearing was held on the September 22, 2022 City Council meeting. Over 300 comments were received during and after the 30-day public hearing advertisement via the Fort Worth Star Telegram and email portal the city provided.
On May 24, 2022, the Capital Improvements Advisory Committee voted 7-0 to approve the 2022 MTP.
