Consider a resolution approving the Matching Funds Program Application with Bear Creek Running Club, for the purchase and installation of a Shade Structure from The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot, of Keller, Texas, and a concrete pad from Apex Concrete of Grapevine, Texas, for the Parks and Recreation Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all agreement documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller.

Body

Action Requested:

Consider approving a Keller Development Corporation (KDC) Matching Funds Program application with Bear Creek Running Club.

Background:

In 2014, the Keller Development Corporation (KDC) created a Matching Funds Program to enable the city to leverage its capital funding to assist with the development of the Parks and Recreation System.

Bear Creek Running Club has submitted an application to partner on the purchase and installation of a shade structure for the Parks at Town Center.

The shade structure will also have a concrete pad underneath, and will be located near the K9 Pointe Dog Park and the start/stop location for Parkrun.

The City has obtained a quote for the shade structure from The Playground, Shade and Surfacing Depot of Keller, in the amount of $16,397.00, and a quote for the concrete pad from Apex Concrete in the amount of $2,250.00, for a total project amount of $18,647.00, with $9,323.50 funded by Bear Creek Running Club, and $9,323.50 funded by the Keller Development Corporation.

Financial Impact:

Funding for this project is within the Keller Development Corporation Fund Balance. A budget amendment will be needed to create a budget for the expenditure and to move the funds from the Keller Development Corporation Fund to the Parks Capital Improvement Project Fund.

Citizen Input/Board Review:

The Parks and Recreation Board and the Keller Development Corporation have unanimously recommended approving the Matching Funds Program application from Bear Creek Running Club.
