Reconsider a resolution approving the proposal from Flock Safety Group for the purchase of Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system and authorizing the City Manager to execute all purchase documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving the purchase of Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system, software, and support.
Background:
The Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) are to provide an additional tool for Patrol and Criminal Investigations personnel. This tool will assist in the detection and apprehension of stolen or wanted vehicles and/or persons traveling through the jurisdiction of the Keller Police Department in a vehicle. The system can also be utilized to assist in the development of leads that can assist in identifying suspects who have committed crimes within the community. The system also provides state alerts for endangered or missing citizens, i.e., amber alerts, silver alerts, etc.
Financial Impact:
The cost of the Flock Safety License Plate Reader (LPR) system is $386,850 to be paid in 5 yearly payments. Year 1 is $98,850, Year 2-5 is $72,000. The KCCPD budget includes $100,000 this year for this project.
Citizen Input/Board Review:
The KCCPD Board approved the Flock Safety License Plate Reader (LPR) system as part of their budget at their 6/21/23 Board Meeting and City Council approved the CCPD budget on 7/18/2023.
