Consider a resolution approving a contract with The Berkley Group, of Bridgewater, Virginia for as-needed professional planning and training services, for the Community Development Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all contract documents on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.

Body

Action Requested:

Approve a contract with The Berkley Group, of Bridgewater, Virginia for as-needed professional planning and training services, in the total amount of $69,000.00, for the Community Development Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all related contract documents.

Background:

Professional planning and training services from the Berkley Group have been utilized to supplement existing staff as turnover precluded the department from meeting internal and statutory deadlines. The current contract was executed in April 2023 and will end on September 30, 2023. For FY 2023-24, services will continue to be used for staff augmentation and training purposes, but are planned to reduce in scope over the next 10-12-month period.

The proposed contract will run from October 1, 2023 thru September 30, 2024 and is not to exceed $69,000.  However, if circumstances change sufficiently as to continue the services on an on-going basis, an additional contract amendment and council approval may be required.

Financial Impact:

Funding for this activity is included with the Administration division of the Community Development department, with funding provided by the General Fund. A budget amendment at the end of the FY 2023-2024 budget year may be required for this item.
