Action Requested:
Approve a construction contract with MHB Construction, Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas; in the amount of $60,237.50 and authorizing the City Manager to execute all related documents on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas
Background:
In the summer of 2012, a drainage project was completed in the Melissa Drive, Daryll Lane and Melody Lane area of north Keller. The outfall of these improvements is located at 1381 Woods Drive. While the new drainage system achieved its intended goal, an unintended consequence, that being erosion, that developed over the years will be addressed with this project. Staff worked with the property owner to develop the solution, and he has granted the necessary easements to construct the project.
On August 26, five (5) bids were received for the Woods Drive Drainage Improvements Project. Staff evaluated the bids and references and recommends MHB Construction, Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas be awarded the contract in the amount of $60,237.50 with construction to be substantially complete within 60 calendar days.
Financial Impact:
Funding is included with the Drainage System Capital Improvements Project Fund with funding provided by the Drainage Utility Fund. If unforeseen circumstances are encountered, which results in an overage of the project budget, further council action and a budget amendment may be required.
