2022 Sidewalk Repair Contract #4 - Consider a resolution approving the purchase of concrete repair and replacement services from C.I. Pavement of Grand Prairie Texas; for remaining FY 2021-22 sidewalk repairs as a part of the Sidewalk Repair Project for the Public Works Department; through The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS-USA) purchasing cooperative; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents relating thereto on behalf of the City of Keller, Texas.
Action Requested:
Consider a resolution approving the purchase of concrete repair and replacement services from C.I. Pavement of Grand Prairie, Texas; through the TIPS-USA purchasing cooperative in the amount of $2,014,698.00.
Background:
The TIPS-USA purchasing cooperative is a purchasing program that allows state and local governments to benefit from shared purchasing power. Utilizing this type of program for construction and repair services meets the City of Keller’s competitive bidding requirements and streamlines the purchasing process.
In the fall of 2020, the Sidewalk Scouts volunteer program surveyed sidewalk locations citywide to identify areas in need of repair. This process along with previously known work orders and work requests were used to identify locations for the FY 2021-22 Sidewalk Repair Project. Starting in 2021, the City began to segment portions of the project into neighborhood locations for sequentially focused sidewalk repair.
Subsequent council direction to release all repair locations at once was given in hopes to avoid continued concrete material cost increases. The City, utilizing the TIPS-USA purchasing cooperative, contacted C.I. Pavement for a proposal on the remaining citywide locations.
City staff has reviewed and determined that the proposal from C.I. Pavement of Grand Prairie, Texas, provides for the lowest and most responsible unit prices for such services and recommends the purchase of concrete repair and replacement services in the amount of $2,014,698.00.
