Action Requested:

Consider a resolution approving a Professional Services Agreement with Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects, Inc. of Dallas, Texas for the design and construction documentation of the Keller Police Department and City Hall Renovation Project in the amount not to exceed $611,500.00.

Background:

The current police department facility was built in 2006, considered phase 1. The phase 2 expansion, to include the Jail and Animal Adoption Center, was completed in 2014. Both phase 1 and phase 2 were funded through the Crime Control & Prevention District (CCPD) Fund.

Staff has worked closely with the Crime Control & Prevention District (CCPD) Board, Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects, Inc., and members of the police department to gather input to determine current and future needs.

As a result, Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects, Inc., completed a police facility renovation study October, 4, 2022.

Staff pursued a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for this project. The selection process was completed on February 7, 2023 and will be brought forth for City Council consideration.

Financial Impact:

The estimated cost from the renovation study of this project is $4,259,000.00. The Police Station cost will be funded through the Crime Control & Prevention District (CCPD) Fund and the City Hall portion will be funded through the Facility Capital Replacement Fund.
